An exceptionally unusual tidal ford which you will be very fortunate to see in its full glory (northerly winds and a spring tide). 'Unfortunately there were neither north winds nor a Spring tide when I visited (on a busy Bank Holiday Monday).
Goose Beck 'flows' out from the grounds of Westgate Church the proceeds to cross roads on the Village Green / Market place three times:
Image 1 shows the 1st crossing from under the clapper bridge.
Image 2 shows the 2nd.
Images 3 and 4 show the final longer stretch which cuts diagonally across the B1155.

'The first is at the northern end of a short green lane off the B1105, 1/2 mile north of village. Seems well used but only for 4X4 vehicles, maybe OK for cars in the summer. Not sure about the vehicular rights on this lane. There is a proper footbridge with depth gauge suggesting that it is a right of way. Pictures from west & east sides (Images 1 and 2).
Thought you might like to know that having done some laning on Boxing Day, the current status of the lane to this ford is an ORPA (Other Road with Public Access). It is currently driveable but suggest that due to visibility issues exiting the lane onto the metalled road, it is only driven from the B1105 end. We found the best way to enjoy all three fords is to approach from Walsingham on B1105, go into Houghton St Giles and turn right past the church and through TF921352. Turn right and right again through TF923355, left onto B1105 and left down ORPA at TF927357. Dean Hendricks
Next is the ford at the top of the village, turn left just past the church when going north off the B1105. Good ford with footbridge. Not suitable for cars with low air intake or when river is in flood, depth about 12".
Finally is the ford in the centre of the village, again just off the B1105. A good ford with footbridge, again about 12" deep and suitable for cars with high air intake.'

'It's on what was the A143 Bury St. Edmunds to Great Yarmouth road just west of Ellingham. It is very overgrown but just grass and nettles; nothing that a strimmer couldn't deal with. It doesn't look quite as overgrown in real life. Hard to assess the depth in the middle but you can see the bottom! Entry and exit to the water look fairly shallow. It will need someone with 4wd to assess whether this ford is still viable.'

'Image 1 shows the first ford which is clear-flowing with a pebbly base and less than 6 inches deep (Image 1). Track soon narrows north of the ford.
Second is further east and on a RUPP (Image 2). It also has a pebbly base, but is wider (at least 40 feet) and deeper (a tad over 6 inches).

'Providing that you stay to the right of the post with reference to this view, the ford is a maximum of 8 inches deep. However, to the left of the post, the ford is about 4 feet deep at its maximum. We saw a land rover with snorkel exhaust and cardboard radiator protector drive successfully through the deep part. There is also a very pleasent pub adjacent to the ford!'

'The first ford is down an unclassifed road between North Creake and South Creake. Not sure if it suitable for light vehicles as it came up to the bumper on the land rover.
The other three are small fords in South Creake Village. They are just water splashes and suitable for all vehicles (the 4th is a bit narrow!). The first two are just off the main road, and it is possible to go through one, round and back through the other.
PLEASE TAKE CARE OF CHILDREN PLAYING IN THE FORDS, PARTICULARLY THE SECOND WHICH IS ADJACENT TO A PUBLIC HOUSE'

'It isn't a ford and it isn't really a tidal road, but when the (2) rivers overflow (Frequently) The entire road floods. It is the A1101 wash road at Welney. The road runs between the 2 rivers (River delph/Old Bedford river and the New Bedford river)
There are 4 depth gages in total ( 2 facing each way) and when the road floods there are barriers at each end of the road which close with signs on them saying "Road flooded" and "Road closed". There are white poles marking out the edge of the road so when in a flood ,drivers can where the road is.
The section of that road is called Wash Road and the area it runs through is known as The hundred foot washes (A wildfowl refuge) which is popular as there is a visitor center just up the road.

'There is a white road leading south-east to form a cross roads, whereupon you can turn left to go back through the same river Nar? (I haven't got the map up). Both full time. 1st Lane is unsurfaced but still boasts road signage "ford" and possibly now "unsuitable for motors" as well. Unmade base and everytime I have been through its been above bumper level on the series1. 2nd lane has 2 fords so you need to look twice before leaping once!. First( as I describe it) is concrete, usually bumper depth, second base unknown, but usually a tad deeper. The fords had a sign prohibiting washing cars.'

'It's the road that goes to the seasonal foot ferry to Horning and after lots of rain and during spring tides floods quite nicely (last time i drove through it when flooded it was about 9 - 10" deep for about 1/2 mile.
Be aware though it is narrow and with few passing places. It has a concrete base, although it is a bit bumpy and with one almighty pot hole about half way through, it is about 3 - 8 inches deep (varies) and about 1/4 - 1/3 mile long (in Image 1 you can see the Ferry Inn at Horning in the background, the wet bit stops about 50 yards short of that.'
